The story takes place in 1929 when Beauvoir (played by Anna Mouglalis) meets the man Sartre (played by Lor à nt Deutsch) who has changed her lifelong fate. The same philosophy brings the two together.

However, Sartre, who was naturally promiscuous, was not willing to give up his "free" life for Beauvoir. Even though he had already established a relationship with Beauvoir, he still openly interacted with many partners. He and Beauvoir had already reached a consensus that the existence of these partners would not destroy their love. On the contrary, without constraints, they gained true love as a result.

Although Beauvoir also had her own lover, she was unable to break free from the shackles of being a woman. Monopoly and jealousy made her cry alone in the dark. The "contract marriage" between her and Sartre not only brought inspiration and honor to her, but also became a maze that she would never escape in her lifetime.

14. 'Outsider'

The Outsider "is adapted from the existentialist novel of the same name by Camus. It tells the story of a young French employee in Algeria who is lonely and introverted, unable to communicate with others, and has no one around him who cares about him.

He is indifferent to all things in society, and even the death of his mother did not make him too sad. Later, he accidentally shot and killed a hooligan, but for the first time, it attracted social attention to him. The court also inferred that he was inherently stubborn based on his performance at his mother's funeral and his daily behavior.

He does not accept the priest's confession, but has a positive view of his own life and death. The absurdity of real life made this small employee an unintentional outsider who was incompatible with the law and traditional customs. Viscanti was adapted from the famous work "The Outsider" by the French existentialist philosopher Camus, but suffered a disastrous Waterloo. Not only was there a wave of negative reviews, but the director himself was also dissatisfied.

The theme of the film is very distinct, impactful, and very faithful to the original work, but it appears clumsy and procrastinating. (This comment is from Time Network for reference only.) This film was nominated for the Golden Lion Award and Best Foreign Language Film at the Venice Film Festival that year.
